Girl Scout Camp – Day 1

oh boy!  we were super excited for Girl Scout camp!!!

11 girls from the troop made the trek out to Marble Falls to spend the weekend at Camp Champions for the spring Girl Scout camp!  Let me just say, it was AWESOME.  The camp itself looked just like a sleep-over camp you’d see in a movie.  It was located right on the lake and it was beautiful and spacious and had tons of really neat activities for the campers (especially the older campers).

We arrived at camp on Friday evening, around 7pm.  We spent a little time getting everyone settled into their bunks, then they had a quick late dinner before the girls headed off for their first activity:  decorating their table in the “filling station” (the camp cafeteria!).  Each troop had a designated table for the duration of the camp and there was a table decorating contest to see who could come up with the best table with the theme “Back to the Future”.  We didn’t get too crazy over the theme, but the girls had a great time using all the “found” objects Ms Letty (the troop leader) brought for them to use.  the made stars out of construction paper and hung them from the rafters with yarn.  They made rockets out of toilet paper rolls, and then they all drew pictures of their own brownie sash and badges onto the table cloth.  They had a fun time making the decorations!

After that we had to hurry back to our cabin to get the girls ready for bed.  The camp has a 10 pm lights out rule!  There was lots of giggling and excitement getting things settled into their bunks for the weekend.

Stay tuned for Day 2! :)
