Sophie’s First Communion

I’ll never forget the first day of kindergarten for Piper.  It was the first day of school for all of us – and there was so much excitement!  I was so eager to catch a glimpse of the kids in her class and to see her start making new friendships and experience new things.  On the sidewalk in front of the school that day, we saw the cutest little girl in a long green skirt and a white t-shirt.  Her brown hair was cut in a super cute little bob, and she too was holding hands with her mom making her way into the main entrance of the school.

Lo and behold – that little girl was in Piper’s class.  And her name was Sophie.

Sophie and Piper have been friends since that very first day of kindergarten.  And on this day two and a half years later, I was so very lucky to get to capture an incredibly special event for Sophie and her family – Sophie’s first communion.  Ewa, Sophie’s mom, explained to me that in Poland, a girl’s first communion is her first very big life event – and is the other major milestone in her life before her wedding day.  Sophie looked like a princess, so beautiful and happy on this special day.  Ewa said the priest told the kids on the eve of their first communion that Jesus was about to become their BFF for life, and that is most definitely something to celebrate;)

Congratulations sweet Sophie!

Later that night, Ewa and Marek hosted a wonderful party at their home to celebrate.  They had delicious food and drinks and it was a beautiful evening celebrating this special occasion with friends;)
