Something else we all love to do (well, except for Piper) is to shoot the guns. Grandpa has several guns and he has a pretty neat setup so that we can shoot from the window of his shed down into the woods. It comes in handy when it’s cold and rainy, as it often is around Thanksgiving. It’s an amazing feeling to watch Lawson learn to shoot using the very same .22 rifle I learned to shoot on more than 30 years ago. He loves it and he’s becoming a pretty good shot!
For those of you who don’t know me or my family, don’t get all “judgy” on me here. My dad is a retired game warden from the state of Pennsylvania and he has taught gun safety courses for decades. He is very strict about handling the guns and making sure everyone (Lawson) pays attention. Loaded guns are always pointed down range, chambers are open and grandpa checks it before the gun is ever moved. I have such fond memories shooting while I was growing up, and I wish my kids got to do it more often.
