Their last day of school in Round Rock was Jan 31st, 2014.
The kids really weren’t sad at all. They were excited to be done with school and the prospect of having almost two full weeks off while we moved. I think they failed to grasp the significance of the day also, which surely made it much easier for them than if they had realized the finality of the good byes they were saying.
I cried. I tried not to let them see it. This is the school they have known, with the kids they’ve grown up with and the teachers we had come to trust and I was taking them away from all of that. So yeah, I cried.
So did Piper’s teacher. She was so, so sad for Piper to be moving. She was such a caring, compassionate teacher and we were very sad that we couldn’t spend a full year with her. I wasn’t sure what mood the kids would be in when we picked them up at the end of the day, but they were ready to roll on out – completely care free.
