We had big plans to spend the day at the beach, cook out at Steve and Kristi’s house, then head back to the beach to watch the fireworks at the pier. Only the weather failed to cooperate and it rained all day long.
But once the sun came out at 7pm, we finally got our long awaited time in the sun. Mike got to try out his new surf board, the kids had a blast boogie boarding, and I took photos while Larry and Bonnie watched from the stairs above the beach.
Then Piper took a break from boogie boarding and she posed for me in the gorgeous late evening light. I just love these photos of her, I can’t believe how beautiful and grown up she has become!
Then finally the sun dropped down and it started getting dark. The kids got into dry clothes and we arranged our chairs to watch the fireworks at the pier. It was such a gorgeous evening, hearing the roar of the waves and feeling the ocean breeze. Steve and Kristi made it down with us, but after a few early fireworks Willa quickly determined that she wanted nothing to do with them and Kristi had to take her home. But Steve stayed with Katie and we all enjoyed the evening. We had glow sticks and our own fireworks that we did before and after the main fireworks show at the Flagler Beach pier. It was definitely one of my favorite July 4ths ever!
